Depression, biologically, is characterized by a lack of enough blood pressure in the brain. The emotional state can be a cause or a consequence of blood depression.
Unfortunately, for some people, “we” still don’t know the core of the phenomenon as our access to the brain is still limited. Even with the recent development in the brain 🧠imagery, MRI and EEG machines, and the rise of psychology as a science equipped with tools to bypass and counteract negative thoughts, traumas, and bad experiences. Moreover, Psychiatry as a drug-based therapy, focuses on the chemical side without seeing the big picture and without thinking in a systemic way. I’m talking about the foundation of the discipline. Are there open and broad-minded psychiatrists who have a holistic approach and are more aware of other aspects? It is counter nature of the hyper-specialization of the discipline but in practice, a minority of such psychiatrists certainly exist. Hyper-specialization is good until it’s not. Meaning: as long as people benefit from your deep knowledge and capacity to see things that very few people can, it’s good. However, when now it’s you who dive deeper and don’t see things that are outside your discipline but are connected directly to the cases you are dealing with, now it’s not good. So psychiatry and psychology are limited, then what else? Personal development? Personal development is based on pseudoscience science but it is very efficient when you find the right approach to the right problem. Personal development is based on mindsets and some practical techniques. The latter are a combination of the creativity of old and new coaches and best practices all over the world through generations. It’s an ocean of data, facts and theories that only the lucky ones benefit fully from the right approach to their specific challenges. Moving on to philosophy! Now let’s dive into the essence and meanings of Life. What are we? Why? How? What? When? With whom? After what? Before what? An endless questioning that is concluded only by beliefs that some choose to consider as truths and others choose to not care about. No definitive answers because all evidence is also questionable at any time if not considered as a belief. Therefore, all of these disciplines combined to challenge depression in the world, are they enough? Nobody has the answer because they are not combined in one holistic approach. It is too complicated for one human brain to be an expert in all of these disciplines in a human lifetime. So what to do to challenge depression? I am not here to give an answer since I’m also a human like you. I’m here to point out the direction that old and new generations, combined, can take to build upon each other to deliver a working system that alleviate properly depression. So am I saying that the solution can be a joint effort by old and new generations over time? Absolutely. Depression is one of the many problems that result from the mismatch between the person and his/her environment. When we as humans shifted from certain life styles to new ones with new mindsets we created a hole and a gap that was never filled by a joining chain and a foundation that allows the bridge between the two sides of the generations. Even if there was and there is a transition in moving on but it’s a necessary condition not a sufficient one. This transition doesn’t ensure building a bridge with the past while creating the future. In my opinion, a person who is not connected to the past, the present and the future with varied degrees will be or is depressed. These degrees or levels are a personal journey of each individual to take and figure out.
